An Ode to Mt. Nausus in NTT, ID

You were there before Man set his feet on your majestic heights.

And, you were there standing before Man freed his arrows to catch wild beasts running in your wide pedestal.

You survived the strong and chilly howl of the wind, the scorching embrace of the sun and the shattering touch of the rain.

The forces of Nature you defied. Unscathed.

Now, with advance weapons in his hands, Man seems mightier than Nature.

He aims to wreck and consume not only the water that flows from you, the trees that gracefully cover you and the beasts that play around you... but you.

Man has begun to cut you. In blocks. For rich men's palaces, hotels, mansions...

Thanks to the affection other Men have upon you.

Your near annihilation was stopped. Indefinitely.

Yes, you withstood the challenges of Nature.

But, can you survived the acts of Man? Until when?

If your Protectors get weary and tired...and will give up (I hope not), it would be the saddest moment.

You'll be broken. Will be ferried to distant lands. And sold.

Your majesty gone. Forever...
